The “Future Industrial Parks – Energy & Resource Efficiency through Integration & Symbiosis“ conference will be held on 15th and 16th of July in Leverkusen, Germany at the BAYKOMM, Chempark.

During the first day goals and results of two EU projects will be presented (LOCIMAP and EFENIS, funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme for Research). The focus of the EFENIS project (www.efenis.eu) is development of a holistic total site design and retrofit methodology and demonstration of novel heat integration solutions and that of LOCIMAP (www.locimap.eu) is re-examining the structure of industry parks using best practice benchmarks from across leading parks in EU. The objective is to identify strategies for much closer integration in manufacturing complexes so they can operate at increased efficiency both of energy and material use, and with lower emissions.

Beyond the dissemination of results and experiences from these two EU projects a conference session will be dedicated to the vision of future energy & resource efficient industrial parks in Europe.
Solution approaches based on process integration and industrial symbiosis will be discussed from the perspective of different process industry sectors.

The second day shall give the opportunity to generate new ideas within and beyond the projects in different workshop sessions.

During this conference Malcolm Bailey will give a joint presentation with Ioannis Siskos of INSEAD on New Concepts for Future Industrial Parks
